This book is a great political read. I'm hoping to look for something exactly like it but written in the conservative's perspective.
In general, Krugman attacks the conservatives for encouraging growing inequality both in the financial and social senses. Krugman's liberal agenda would bolster the welfare state to improve generational mobility (your ability to do better than your parents) in the socioeconomic ladder. Many comparisons are made to other socialistic societies, particularly in Europe.
Krugman nicely supports most of his statements with statistics and researched case studies. The problem with statistics is that they can be taken out of context and applied to unrelated situations. It's difficult to tell whether this was the case with Krugman's work but you have to take him at his word.
As a liberal, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I now feel like my opinions are justified by research and numbers. However, I'm also keen to read a conservative analogue so that I can gain some perspective.

34.0% | "Like Robert Reich's Aftershock. There's a lot of comparisons with our current economic situation with that of the Great Depression. However, this book has more numbers and seems to be better researched. It, similarly, argues that the cause is the increasing inequality of the rich and the poor." |
