This book was a total surprise. It was recommended by our Tea and Books Librarian. It is written in an usual style. The story of a heroin adict who in the past was a doctor. He lives in a seedy side of San Antonio Texas selling his medical expertise and skills for dope. Enter a young mexican girl who he takes under his wing against his better judgement and there begins the story. It is a story of miracles, a well meaning priest and love. The side plot is that the doctor is haunted by the ghost of Hank Williams to whom he gave a fatal overdose of morphine. A good read and I will try another of his books. Everyone needs a little off-base once in a while.
