Well, after reading two non-fiction books, I thought it was time for a little mindless fiction. Lehane has an excellent reputation for his crime novels, so I thought I would try one of his books that had not been made into a movie!

Darkness, Take My Hand, like most books from the genre, sways from the inane, to the totally ridiculous, and yet somehow keeps the reader interested in the outcome. The main characters, Angie and Patrick are likeable in their role as private investigators working in their native Boston. The plot involves serial killers, the Irish mob, clowns, and overly aggressive neighborhood watch groups - Lehane manages to meld all of these elements together into an readable, mostly entertaining read.

Apparently, the Kenzie/Genarro books are a part of a larger series, so I just might have to pick up some of the others for some more un-thought provoking reading!
