I was in the market for a new author and relative let me borrow this book. I started it knowing nothing about the author or what the story was going to be about; just going at it blind, which is an odd way to read a book, but I digress. The first few chapters are very hectic, with a great deal of confusion about what is actually going on, but in a good way. We feel for the main charater (Cotton), who was also just thrown into this mess. We then learn along with Cotton about a deadly treasure hunt for the lost Templar treasure, and the action and suspense never stops. The characters are great, with genuine qualities and certain character flaws that make them believable. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes tales of treasure and adventure, or for anyone who just wants to read a good book.
The one thing that confused me while reading was that on multiple occasions in the book characters refered to previous interactions and past story lines that seemed interesting, too the point where I thought that I was at a later point in a series. It turns out that the Cotton Malone books are a series, but The Templar Legacy is the first. I am not sure if later books will describe the previous story more as the books go on, but I will definately continue on with the series.
