Steve Volk's fascinating book explores the murky paranormal by balancing the equally passionate views of skeptics and believers. There are mystical accounts that will force the skeptic to reexamine her views, and others that will make the most ardent believer unsure. And that's why this book is great; because Volk forces all of us to question what is real and what we believe. In the end, he rightfully claims, that is ok, and we may never have the answers we're looking for. However, if we can accept that there are mysteries out there - some terrifying and plenty wonderful - we can also accept our own humanity and find common ground with seekers like us.
