Both of the Navel parents are famous explorers, but 11-year-old twins Oliver and Celia eschew all sorts of real adventure in favor of reality TV. Their mother has disappeared searching for the Great Library of Alexandria, so their second wish--after wishing to have their mother return--would be cable television so they could watch EVERY reality program possible. Living in the Explorers Club makes them part of the audience of every gathering of the members. At one of the gatherings, Sir Edmund challenges Dr. Navel to either locate the missing tablets for which his wife had been searching or forfeit the two children to him for every school vacation period.

Of course, Dr. Navel is sure he can find the missing tablets that will help lead him to his wife and secure the future of his children, so he forces the children to accompany him to Tibet to search using a recently found note from his wife. The children fear unimaginable consequences and are too soon victims of a nefarious plot to embarrass their father and even more horrid consequences than they imagined. The children find themselves falling from planes and cliffs and facing witches, warriors, and yetis. Edible food becomes a memory and the children must rely on all the survival skills they learned from reality TV to save themselves and their father.

Will the children save their father and locate their mother? Will they learn to be curious and love adventure? Will they ever get cable TV? Stay tuned.
