Liz Murray memoir chronicles her life from childhood to graduating from an Ivy League. As a child Liz experienced severe neglect due to her parents' drug habit. Also during her youth she was taken from her father, placed in foster care, dropped out of school and was homeless. In this book, Liz shares her life story from homelessness to Harvard, and the struggles and joys along the way.

HEARTWRENCHING. I've never had to take a break from reading, but had to take several while reading this book. The st ruggles that Liz faced growing up were heartbreaking. I kept thinking that no child should have to experience what she did. However she survived through the determination to take control of her own life and not let others dictate how her life would be. Also her support network of true friends was amazing.
