i know Junie B. Jones is a very popular series, and i've read reviews before, but never actually read one. while i can see the appeal - a spunky attitude and mischief, i couldn't get past the grammatically incorrect language, and the prolific use of words like hate and stupid (which, in reality, aren't bad words, but to the intended audience of 5-7 year olds, these words typically carry some weight). we did finish this book, but not without significant horror on my son's part that Junie B would call 911 when it wasn't a true emergency. he deemed this one "too scary", and he's not usually afraid of things, so i'd say one redeeming fact about reading this book is the anecdote we now have about his reaction.
