The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle

Very charming, for the most part. I loved Doctor Dolittle as a kid, and the story is still fun. There's an awful lot of noble-savage business, though, and a heaping teaspoonful of white-man-as-savior, so it wasn't as perfect as it could have been.
Interestingly, an endnote said that some other more patently potentially offensive material has been excised. Normally I'm against any kind of bowdlerization, but maybe it was a good thing in this instance?
