How The Mighty Fall: And Why Some Companies Never Give In

This book is a result of some excellent research. Any professional, working in any industry and at any level, has a lot to gain from this work.
There were a couple of Collins' observations I was able to relate to, in particular, because I'm currently experiencing them at my place of work. His research shows that one of the main reasons a company that's doing well begins to lose ground is because they get obsessed with growth and pursue other opportunities and markets while neglecting their primary flywheel.
Also, when the leaders of a company begin to respond to data and warning signs with a re-org as a primary strategy, they may well be in denial. Reorganizations and restructurings can create a false sense that you're actually doing something productive, but it has to be coupled with taking a good look at your upper management and questioning yourself if you have the right people at the helm of every department.
Another valuable piece of information is the "leadership team dynamics table" (pg 77). Which can probably be printed and pinned up in every breakroom.
