Starts out gently (well, there is that foreward that does really grab you) and then builds and builds. An amazing memoire / autobiography of the Somali (now Dutch) author. She does the narration in this audio edition and that adds beautifully to the book. Having grown up as a devout and educated Muslim, she's entitled to take her shots at her born faith, and this she does, but with respect and understanding. I was mesmerized.
