Alexandra Cooper gets a late night call out to Harlem's Mt. Neboh Baptist Church where a body is on fire on the steps and behind the locked fence surrounding the property. When the fire is finally out the discover the body, minus the head, of a young woman. This begins the search for a killer who seems to be targeting women who have become ordained in one church or another. Alex and company are not having a great deal of luck before another woman is killed and they begin to at least get the idea who the next victim may be. New clues and some out of the box thinking by Alex get them on the trail of the killer and his latest victim and its a race to find them before she is killed as well. It's been awhile since I read a Fairstein, but I am glad I latched on to this one.
