This was a great book! It's a lot like Influencer: The Power to Change Anything but it takes on a much more personal tone and gives examples of how to overcome personal challenges by employing the same six sources of influence:
* Personal Motivation - Love What You Hate
* Personal Ability - Do What You Can't
* Social Motivation and Ability - Turn Accomplices into Friends
* Structural Motivation - Invert the Economy
* Structural Ability - Control Your Space
In order to be successful in progressing at work, losing weight, overcoming addiction, becoming financially stable, improving relationships and really anything else we need to be both the scientist and the subject and adapt our change plans to our specific circumstances. We must identify our vital behaviors, points where we become particularly weak around our particular challenges. Then instead of just deciding to change we need to actually write down a change plan (including all of the steps above in some way specific to us) and adapt it as needed. We can't get discouraged when we fail and fall into the "willpower trap." We need to change the plan and keep trying.

I think there are some really good ideas in this book for personal success and progress. I think it's similar to the repentance process. We need to be dedicated to becoming better everyday and understand that we can't do it on our own. It also reminds me of President Boyd K. Packer's quote, "True doctrine, understood, changes attitudes and behavior. The study of the doctrines of the gospel will change behavior faster than the study of behavior will change behavior." :)
