really liked it
Read from June 23 to July 03, 2011

What appeals to me in this book is that it gives an unsentimental look at war. No glamour, no glorification, just plain truth delivered in a no nonsense manner. Well worth the time. Now to get started on my other war memoirs.

Linda My Uncle served with the 3rd ID in WWII. He was with a different regiment than Audie. Also, in the same battle that Murphy won his Medal of Honor my Uncle won a Silver Star.

Alex Wow. It was definitely the greatest generation. Average people doing extraordinary things. It makes me sad that most of that generation has passed.

Linda While I was doing genealogy research I became interested in WWII and started researching where my Uncle was in WWII. I found out he was one of 70 some soldiers that were in all 5 campaigns of the 3rd ID. He started in Africa and ended up in Germany. They won their medals at the Il river, Maison Rouge. I have done soem research in the National Archives in Washington. Very Interesting!
