The first Linda Fairstein.

I see a pattern here that is repeated in future books. Poor Alex, just as it looks as if she found a good one, he turns out to be a rat.

A movie star is murdured at Alex's home in Martha's Vineyard. The star is a user, who met Alex through her best friend, Nina Baum, an old friend from college who is an entertainment lawyer in LA. Alex finds out about the murder as the headline of the Saturday morning NY Post headlines "Sex Prosecutor Slain", but of course it is a case of mistaken identity.

Another indication of future plot development, Alex is kidnapped at the end by the perpetrator and is saved by the NYPD detectives who have been working with her on this case.
