did not like it
bookshelves: abandoned, novel

"Punk", for authors such as Egan, occupied a narrow time frame and disappeared before the eighties was toddling on two legs (or even before the decade's birth). Their conception of "punk" includes sleazy promoters and all the scummy trappings of rocknroll hedonism--never any of the idealism, activism, compassion, outrage, and community building that punk rock engaged in, still engages in, and will continue to promote.

Quit being vultures trying to rip into a carcass, for punk never died, you just don't know what it really is.

Despite my unsurprising disillusionment with the "punk" aspect of this, I might have read the entire novel if the first section hadn't been unbearably annoying, uninteresting, and poorly written.
