** spoiler alert ** I am a big Jodi Picoult fan, I have read all of her books. This is one of her best. I found this one heartbreaking and thought-provoking.

It is told from the perspective of 5 different people:

June Nealon: The wife /mother of murdered husband and daughter. Shay Bourne was found guilty of these crimes and sentenced to death. She also has a second daughter who is gravely ill and in need of a heart transplant.
She is dealing with her anger, grief and desire to see her daughter Claire live.

Lucius: A prisoner who is next to Shay Bourne and witnesses some of his "miracles".

Father Michael: A catholic priest who is asked to be an advisor to Shay. Unbeknownst to Shay he was also on the jury that convicted him and sentenced him to death.

Maggie: An ACLU Lawyer trying to help Shay be executed in a way that will allow him to donate his heart to Claire Nealon.

Shay Bourne: Although Shay does not have a "voice" in the novel, it is his story.

Be aware that Picoult challenges and questions everything about religion in this novel.

I finished it in 2 days. So WORTH READING!!!
