really liked it
bookshelves: american-revolution, historical-fiction
Read from June 23 to 24, 2011

I first read this book in the third grade and while I adored all of the other characters, I absolutely HATED Tempe. Now, reading this novel 12 years later, I still hold with that. She is the most selfish person in the novel, and if I was Mary, I would have slapped her numerous times throughout the book. She was bitter towards Mary just because she (Mary) had no responsibilities and therefore nothing to really worry about. I give this book four stars because it is still one of my favorite Ann Rinaldi novels because of the narrator and other characters, and bringing such a vivid legend that is relatively unknown to life.
