AN AFFAIR was a re-read for me, but this book is one that has a permanent place on my keeper shelf. Eloisa James is just in a class of her own. Poppy and Fletch are two of my favorite characters and this is the book that had me stalking Amazon to see when the Duke of Villiers' story would be coming out. James also does an absolutely fascinating job of weaving in historical tidbits. Did Adam have a belly button? Was this strange animal-with-a-pouch a member of the dog family? Plus, now I really need to start a curio cabinet with a set of baby spoons nestled in a peach pit... the whole book is just delightfully delicious, as sweet and engaging and secretly spicy as Poppy herself.
