The story of Margaret Beaufort, heir to the Lancaster house and English throne in mid 1400's. She considers herself chosen by God and devout, although her passionate ambition to get her son on the throne dominates her life and pollutes her vision. The book is personally disturbing since she has such a myopic view of God's will, which always matches her own desires, and I fear my own self-interest boarders on this at times. Interesting to read but a bit frustrating and full of battles that I don't understand. I've never been able to understand or grasp English royals and am still muddled after reading this.
