I have been v. frustrated with this series, but at the end of #3, her on-again, off-again, mystical attachment to Marcus is on, and the devoted-but-absent BFF Hope is FINALLY present: I was looking forward to some good girlfriend-y bonding on their road trip while she explores what life is like in a nice healthy balanced relationship...but no. This book opens with the news that their road trip was cut short, Marcus is a freshman at Yale, and therefore...J must break up with him? So she's drinking whiskey at noon on a weekday? And then she goes to break up with him but they start having sex and then his 17 yo roommate's parents walk in on them because heaven forbid we should lock the door...and then J has to remind us about the time SHE walked in on HER parents and Marcus proposes marriage and...I'm done.
