Mistaken Identity (Rosato & Associates, #6)

BEWARE. I DON'T FLAG SPOILERS. BUT I DON'T PUT MY REVIEWS OUT ON ANY FEED, EITHER.
I've read the books out of order. This is the one where Bennie mets her sister for the first time -- defends her, successfully in fact, in a murder trial. To that point, Bennie had not even known she had a twin -- as she was raised alone by her mom, who due to mental-health issues, did not ever disclose Bennie's full family history (and specifically the fact that the mom had borne twin girls, given one up, and actually ended the relationship w. her husband, though she had always given Bennie to believe that the husband had run off.)
While Bennie grapples w. the concept of having a twin, she also must grapple w. her proof that the sister has committed terrible deeds, if not the murder for which she is being tried (a live-in cop boyfriend).
Besides getting the sister off, Bennie also blows the lid off a police conspiracy to profit fr. drug sales by protecting dealers. Bennie doesn't get it entirely right, but she does learn enough to get the press and public investigators digging into the hidden scandal.
But Bennie doesn't do it alone. It's great to see how investigator Lou Jacobs is brought on board -- a retired cop, he was working as deskman in the office building where Rosato & Associates is located. Bennie snaps him up after he loses that job. Over time, he goes fr. being a divorced ex cop who's skeptical of lawyers in general and women in general to becoming an invaluable member of Bennie's team.

Was this a spoiler when you saw she "meets her sister for the first time"?
