it was ok
Read in January, 1984

Ok, granted, I read this book in 10th grade, so my views were colored by a teacher about to retire who just wanted to read and didn't feel like teaching anymore. I just remember thinking that I was in bondage while we read it, and wishing that the character would get over himself (hmm--in the same vein as The Red Badge of Courage, Hamlet, etc)and stop whining about his life. I just have a bias against young men having existential crises, I guess.
