bookshelves: guy-book, tragedy, fitting-in, teen, depression, queer

Practically every book written in first person about a teenaged guy is compared to the Catcher in the Rye, but with this book, the comparison actually makes sense. James is a very different character from Holden, and his New York is different; the things that depress and isolate him are different, too. But he's struggling with Holden's same old questions.

In the days since I finished this book, I've been thinking about James and hoping he's okay. I think this book will resonate with a lot of older teens, especially the ones who feel don't feel comfortable with the life they are expected to lead.
