Not as good as some of his others.

A killer sentenced to life in prison at the SuperMax facility in Florence, Colorado, is somehow linked to killers on an unusual crime spree in D.C. The killer is known as the Audience Killer, and it is not known that the killer has a partner.

The sentenced killer, Kyle Craig, former FBI agent and friend of Cross's, breaks out of prison, unstated but evidently with the help of the Audience Killer, by exchanging places in the prison with his attorney, who then commits suicide which reveals the switch to authorities.

So we have killers in DC and a killer fresh from the Supermax prison in Colorado, on the road.

Cross is in private practice, but he joins with his girlfried, Detective Brianna Stone, the detective assigned to the Audience Killer case and his old partner, Detective John Sampson in working on the D.C. homicides. Upon the news that Craig has escaped from Supermax, Cross flies out to the prision to take a look at the investigation, and he picks up some information that seems to tie Craig to the Audience Killer.

With other Patterson books, the author's writing is smart, crisp, and compelling. It just leaves you wanting more.
