The ending to this book is truly surprising and is in this reader's opinion its main selling-pont. Myron Bolitar, a retired basketball star and sports agent is embroiled in the disappearance of a school friend's daughter as a result of his own attempt to offer helpful support. Aware of the dangers facing both his friend's and new patner's teenage daughters, he offers them to call him should they ever need a late night lift. When this offer is accepted, Bolitar finds himself the last person to see he girl alive, and therefore a suspect. Coben has skllfully contrived a surprise ending, but in creating so many sub-plots to disguise this, does ask his reader to struggle through a convoluted mid-point passage.
