Read from June 20 to 26, 2011

A clear and comprehensive look at the Leopold and Loeb murders and the controversy that surrounded their hearing and sentencing.

Baatz manages to be interesting and give readers a clear and understandable narrative without sacrificing historical details. This isn't just a sensationalistic true crime novel. He also presents an unbiased, well-rounded view of Leopold and Loeb and also Darrow and Crowe, the lawyers in the cases. Baatz presented the science of the day without a lot of accompanying modern condescension.

All in all, informative and interesting.
