Interview With the Vampire takes place in San Fransico between Louis the Vampire and an unmamed male reporter. Louis tells his life story from his mortal years thru his vampiric years. Louis begins his tale in New Orleans plantation Pointe Duc Lac where he is manager who was seeking death since his brother's death. Louis meets Lestat a regal appearing gentlemen but really is nothing of the kind for he's a Vampire. Lestat makes Louis into a Vampire and nothing is the same from that point on. Louis expects Lestat what it means to be a Vampire but this does not happen. Louis teaches himself what it means much to Lestat's dismay. Louis finding life with Lestat unbearable seeks something new and different. Louis finds a child and is completely drawn to her in way he hasn't experienced since his early days as a Vampire. Claudia is turned into a Vampire by Lestat but she will never age beyond her five years. Claudia brings new meaning to Louis's life and he dotes on her as a father would. For awhile their lives are idlyic but that all changes when Claudia kills two servants because she will never be like them. Claudia turns against Lestat completely and Louis fears what she might do. Louis tries to warn Lestat of Claudia's intentions but Lestat refuses to listen. What will Claudia do? Can Louis stop her? What of Lestat? These questions and more are answered in Interview With the Vampire.
