Deceived by the Others (H&W Investigations, #3)

The story was amazing and such a joy to read. This is the first book in the series that I’ve read but the author, Jess Haines, provided enough back story about 1 & 2 that I didn’t feel lost or like I was missing a piece of the puzzle. I definitely want to read 1 & 2 as well as any other books that come out in the series.
There are many reasons why I liked the story - maybe too many.
1. Shiarra, the main female, was a likeable character who actually surprised me a time or to. She wasn’t a pushover. She had enough guts to do what she thought was right and more when another character did something deplorable.
2. Chaz, the main male, was a shocking character. That’s a good thing. He does something I didn’t see coming at all and it added a huge twist in the overall plot.
3. There were several secondary characters who added spice to the story. Without the secondary characters, I don’t think the story would have been as good.
4. The descriptions of the settings such as the lodge and Royce’s (secondary character) set of apartments were well described. I felt like I was looking at photographs. Jess didn’t skimp out on details.
5. Shiarra’s emotions & voice were unique and fresh.
6. I loved the fact this story/series has a little bit of everything: vampires, werewolves, other werebeasts, magic, witches/sorcerers, scandal, love, blood bonds, familiars and more.
7. I loved the ending. It makes me anxious for the next book in the series.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes Urban Fantasy stories.
I give this book 5 red crows out of 5. (blog review system)
