Read from June 20 to 28, 2011

Bruce DeSilva's debut novel really deserves 3.5 stars. This year's "Edgar Award Winner" for best 1st novel is a most worthy winner. DeSilva is a former investigative reporter who now runs the Investigative Unit of the Associated Press. His main character "Liam Mulligan" is a wise cracking investigative reporter for a dying newpaper in Rhode Island.A series of deadly fires has the town in turmoil. This novel has great pace, lots of humour, rich dialogue and a suspenseful thrilling plot.Mulligan's character has been masterfully developed by DeSilva and his sardonic wit will have you howling. It was a pure pleasure to read this novel. I have just learned that Desilva is getting ready to release the 2nd in the "Mulligan" series.I will definitely be in the queue to get it.
