I wasn't as enamoured by this book as a lot of other people were. It was an interesting story, but I thought some of it was a little farfetched, especially his plane crash survival. Passing out underwater while trapped in wires and then waking up freed of them is hard to believe. I'm not saying he didn't endure terrible beatings and harsh conditions. I couldn't imagine being a POW for more than two years. But someone else in these Goodreads reviews said it best when he said Zamperini is made into a demi-god in this book.
