It is a modern day twist of the classic Lord of the Flies but with girls/teen beauty queens. On the way to their beauty contest the plane crashes on an island killing most of the passengers. The girls that are left have to figure out how to survive. During the course of the book the reader learns about each of the characters and how they ended up in beauty pageants. It is an all inclusive novel of ethnicity and sexuality. Yes, pirates do appear in the story but with a twist. It is both comical and serious. I was surprised because it wasn't like the last Libba Bray book I read. Bray brings up alot of contemporary topics throughout the story. Good book for discussion.
