Even though this book screams "go green or die," I was able to look past the political overtones and really enjoy the quirky characters that make up Laura's family and friends. Written in diary format (hence the name), we really only see things from Laura's perspective, but Lloyd writes in such a way that you feel like you're actually reading a narrative and getting to know each character. Sure it's a bit predictable (well, I didn't see Larkin coming...), but it was a nice change from the bulk of vapid, superficial YA I've read of late.
