A young girl disappears in the forest - supposedly taken by the King of Fairies, fifteen years ago. A brother haunted by her disappearance, a family devestated by the loss, and a woman who cannot forget the story of what happened all collide when the past comes calling...

Phoebe and Sam are a couple. Different as night and day, but their relationship works for them. But Sam has a past - a past that includes an older sister who disappeared one summer night, out searching for the fairies in the woods. While Sam has moved on with his life, his cousin Evie has not - because Evie was also there the night Lisa disappeared. Evie convinces Sam to come home and visit - and strange things begin to happen. Lisa's Book of Fairies mysteriously appears, strange old women who chant nonsense begin to torment Sam and Phoebe, and even Evie is not who she appears to be. Sam and Phoebe both begin to question their grasp on reality - do fairies really exist and did the King of Fairies really take Lisa? Is Lisa impossibly still alive somewhere? And what do the fairies want with Phoebe - if they really are fairies? And is Lisa the only one he took?

An intricately plotted novel, with tense expectations for the paranormal activity, and strange twists in the scope of reality, this novel will chill you with the utter depths of depravity it uncovers. Readers will be left with more questions than answers, but the sheer psychology of the novel will have the reader guessing until the end and shaking their heads in disbelief when the story unfolds.
