So there's a good reason why the masses love this book. The first third of the book I wasn't so convinced, to be honest. I have my own dog, and though I love my own crazy world she creates with her mishaps, I don't always love to read all about someone else's dog. I think the thing is, though, you just have to kind of go with this one, because you find yourself getting emotionally attached to this family, and to Marley of course. I don't know why, but I must be the only idiot who didn't realize it's a tribute and that he dies at the end. THAT was a problem, because I was a driveling mess every time I looked at my own dog and realized our time together was finite. I've been hugging her a little more every day--the book gave me a sense of gratitude for having the love and loyalty of my best furry friend.
