Interesting, don't know much about the book. But I loved the film, then again anything Alfonso Cuaron touches is gold to me.

In a rare case, the movie is far superior to the book. The novel is a traditional, stuffy Wellsian approach to the sci-fi theme of apocalypse by sterility. The movie updates the novel using images familiar to us today making it timely and horrifying.
