Really, a 3.5 rating. This is a big story about a very small world--a town in Denmark that literally launches a thousand ships. Beginning in the 1840's and ending in the 1940's, the characters are appealing and have all sorts of human foibles. This book is certainly not for everyone (I like stories about the sea).

Laura We made it through Shantaram, which I think was about 800 pages!

Janet Shantaram and Power of One--two of my favorite books!
