Forever Odd (Odd Thomas, #2)
by Dean Koontz
by Dean Koontz
Not interesting enough to even give it's lacklustre predecessor credit. This book put the b in boring. The first novel had an interesting cast of characters to bulk up the loose and incoherent storyline at minimum. I literally wanted to rip my eyes and brains out of their respective areas in my noggin. I wasn't going to need them for this book. It read like the world's most cold porridge screenplay. Koontz was downright lazy with "Forever Odd". As the reader I got the sense that the author compiled fifteen to twenty interesting facts about a particular subject (in this case, the occult) and then drew a line connecting them to each other. This line then became the quest; and it was just about as tactile, predictable and tame as a line that you could expect. There was no sense of danger to the central character at any moment in my opinion. And for some unknown reason the publishing world requested TWO MORE books?!? Who are these people that actually take enjoyment from this drivel? Do I stop here? Do I torture myself with one more foray into the life of Odd Thomas? One would hope that after this outing things only have to go up....right? If this is not the case then the next spirit Odd Thomas might encounter could very well be me. After having blown my brains out over another futile reading of his so-called "adventures". My unfinished business? To end his series, once, and for all.
