really liked it

Really enjoyed this change of direction from Koryta. I actually read The Cypress House first, so I wasn't quite as stunned by the writing as I was with that one, but this cements in my mind that I'll be reading just about anything Koryta puts out.

The story has definitive echoes of King (more so than even Cypress House) as it tells the story of a pair of hotels in a valley more than tinged with a bit of the supernatural. The book is a touch long as I found the overture to the third act a bit of a slog, but as the storm approaches (of course there's a storm!) the book shrugs off the stalling and barrels to a fantastic conclusion.

The main character is a bit underdeveloped or maybe is just plain meant to be a bit irritating (if so, well done!) but the supporting cast especially an elderly weather watcher are all sparkling little gems.
