** spoiler alert **
Interesting premise - killer reviewer Shearman Wax (all puns intended on the name) eviscerates Cullen's newest book.
Contrary to everyone's remonstrations, Cullen opts to at least take a look as Shearman frequents his favorite restaurant. A humorous interaction plays out in the men's bathroom b/w Cullen, his son Milo and Shearman. The games begin.
Shearman begins to terrorize Cullen's family and the violence begins quickly and magnificently with the bombing of their house. Cullen and his family are the standard family. Cullen is the sole survivor of a family massacre by his uncle on 20 family members (he was 6 - name changed). His wife, Penny, is the daughter of educated survivalist parents and a handy knowledge of firearms. The son, Milo, at 6 years old is familiar with thermodynamics and even more esoteric information with a very interesting dog, Lassie.
They survive (yippee) b/c of the great support of their son Milo, his sitter, his dog Lassie, Penny and her family, and their own resources.
Was disappointed with who the villain was - a government funded (Treasury) conspiracy plot to make people dumb and unhappy (in essence).
