The birth of a legend. Dragons or not real, everyone knows that, they died out thousand of years ago. Yet there would appear to be one loose in Ankh Morpork, and the only ones that can save the city are a drunk, his well past it Sargent, and a Nobby, fortunately a six foot plus dwarf called Carrot has volunteered to join them in the City Night Watch.
This is Terry Pratchett's first outing for the Discworld's city watch, while it is full of comedy and word play, it does look at the human condition, with subterfuge and intrigue a plenty.
There are no bad Discworld stories but this one stands out as a classic
