This is a well-conceived mystery that brings to mind the television show CSI. The only difference is that the criminologist is the bad guy. His rationale for and the means by which he carries out his crimes are warped but very clever and keep the good guys at bay until the very end. The story is set in Portland, Oregon - my old home town - and mentions many familiar locations.
