I love this whole series. Its really fun to read and a little challenging. There is no formal hero, and really no main characters. Its just bunches of different people whose lives intersect while they are vying for the highest (most dangerous) throne in the land.

Without a formal hero, there is much more tension than in an average fantasy novel. You have no idea who may die and that makes you much more invested in reading the series through to its conclusion. My favorite character died early in the series and I was in denial that he was actually dead. I am holding out hope that my current favorite character makes it through to the end.

Good taut books. Can meander sometimes if there is a character you don't like. It also is getting a little confusing as he keeps adding characters even as he's getting rid of them. I wrote up a little slip of paper to keep everything straight.
