I know what you mean. I just finished the book and I'm already reading it again. It has become one of my favorite series. Favorite character - definitely Deucalion:)
Indeed, Jocko's interesting - he has a cute sense of humor at that gives the whole a little comic relief. And Deucalion? Who does not love Deucalion? Trust me when I say that no other character I have ever encountered in the books or movies or Tv-shows has hit me as Deucalion has :3 he surprised me so entirely with his self irony that sometimes shines through (especially in the first book) his kindness though he seemed to be so looming in the beginning and most of all his humility and empathy, that he is so human despite his origins... He's a genuine good guy!

I'd have to say that Deucalion is my favorite character.:)
