After I was finished with this book, I thought about the second foundation for a long time. I wouldn't be surprised if this book is the reason that I started to wonder about humans as a collective organism and wonder about being able to study the cycles of intelligent animal life on any given planet. Would those cycles be similar to ours? How much is possible to do and to know before a species of intelligent animals use up their host planet? Anyway, there's lots of food for thought in this book but mainly the story is just amazing and I was lost in it for months afterward.
