PROTAGONIST: Will Cochrane, Intelligence agent
RATING: 2.75
WHY: The author was an MI6 agent who conducted approximately 70 missions, all of them successful. Given that background, I was expecting great things for this spy thriller. Unfortunately, an expert background in the subject does not give one excellent writing skills. There is a lot of awkward prose. Dunn's way of setting the place is to reel off dozens of street names. There was a lack of clarity in explaining the various intelligence agencies and a lot of redundancy about his purpose. If Dunn could find a writing mentor, he would be a dynamo, given his deep understanding of how intelligence agencies work today.
