Michal’s eyes shone whenever she laid eyes on David. Her father, Saul, has decided to make him her husband for a price. When Michal helped David escape Saul’s wrath and jealousy, she was then wed to Paltiel, her childhood friend. David was indifferent, neglectful, and unresponsive to his young wife’s needs. Yet, she still loved him despite the fact that Paltiel was a devoted husband. When David sends for Michal after her father’s death, Michal discovers that life and love are not what she expected it to be.

I thoroughly enjoyed this exquisitely written and sad love story based on characters and stories from the Bible.

Kwesi 章英狮 Have you read The Red Tent by Anita Diamant?

Nancy Not yet, but I'm thinking about it. Did you enjoy it?

Kwesi 章英狮 Yap, I gave it 4 stars and I think you'll like it.

Someone gave it to me, when I realised it was about folk in the bible thought oh no. (had enough of that at Catholic school). However Diamant made the people real, fully fleshed out in all their relationship dynamics and failings. I was impressed.

Kwesi 章英狮 I agree to what Velvetink said.

Nancy I never went to Catholic school, but did have mandatory religion classes in public school. The worst thing for me was saying prayers by rote. The biblical stories were riveting, containing all the pain, sorrow and joys of real life.

When I was in Primary school they taught everything by rote. Hated it at the time, but actually grateful now for the maths tables and the latin. There is much though apart from the stories that I would like to eradicate from my brain.

Nancy Even worse than saying prayers by rote was my First Communion rehearsal. I hated that itchy lace white dress and the heels with slippery soles.

Anne Thanks so much, Nancy - really glad you enjoyed this one. I had great fun writing it too! And yes, I can really recommend The Red Tent - I found that one inspirational!

:))

All good wishes to you
