She worked her character development better in this book, and it was a much quikcer read. The uerban magician works well, a little concerned with the dire circumstances he finds himself in on an ongoing basis and improbable way out of them. Some things did not make sense, like the killing of "Vera" of the Whites, she was an interesting character who did not need to be taken out as yet. Enjoyed the interplay between Matthew and Oda better, and Matthew's emergence into his own identity.
