"Then I drove back home to Paradise" is the last line of Steve Hamilton's wonderful Misery Bay. (no spoiler, trust me.) Paradise indeed. Not just the physical Paradise in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, but some really heavenly reading.

Hamilton has returned to his detective Alex McNight, licensed P.I. and retired Detroit cop, in this race to find who is killing the children of state police, and then the trooper themselves. Page turning action, characters you want to root for (or against) and most of all, the bone chilling cold of winter in the UP.
