An interesting continuation of the Cheif Inspector Armand Gamache mystery series, once again set in Three Pines Quebec, an isolated village set away in rural Quebec. Two stories run simultaneously. One involves a set of seances, onr held at a house where with a terrible history. One of those arts dings collapses and dies, apparently in a great fright. At the same time Gamache is being haunted by his choices in a police misconduct investigation where his choices andjidgements have caused a serious breach in the upper echelons of the Suritê. Both issues reach their startling conclusion in a repeat of the fatal seance.
